The Comic Book Fantasy League (CBFL) was established in 2010 as a way for fans to enjoy the fun of a fantasy league with a focus on their favorite medium, comic books. Today, fans from all over the country have discovered the site and have jumped on board to compete in the monthly match-ups. A special thanks goes out to members who joined the CFBL in its early stages and are still competing today.
The Comic Book Fantasy League (CBFL) uses the monthly Top 100 comic book sales from the Diamond Comics website to determine scoring each month. CBFL Members use the publishers' monthly solicitations to pick the 10 books they think will be in the top 10 of Diamond's top 100 books for the month based on quantity rank. Diamond Comics
As part of the CBFL, one month equals one round. The regular season consists of 7 rounds of round robin-style play and 3 rounds of seeded tournament play.
Members join the CBFL by submitting contact information and naming their team. After eight teams have joined, a new league begins. Points accumulate each month. At the end of the regular season, a seeded tournament is held to determine the league champion.
Teams earn points by correctly matching the 10 books that appear in the top 10 book for sales monthly Top 100 sales chart. The more books that match, the more points are earned. Teams receive 1 point for every book they select that ends up in the top 10. A 5 point bonus is awarded if a team correctly chooses the #1 book for the month.
What happens if there is a tie? Match-ups ending in a tie can happen during regular season play. For determining seeds for tournament play, tie-breakers are determined first by total points gained during regular season play, then by match-up results during the regular season, and lastly, if needed, a random-selection process. Match-ups ending in a tie during tournament play will use the same process to determine a winner.
Feel free to contact the CBFL with any questions. Thank you.
